Aweber Review ❇️ Email Automation and Push Notifications

Hey, my name is Phil from legitmarketingreviews. com. In today's video, we're going to be looking at an email marketing platform called Aweber. In this Aweber review, I'm going to show you exactly what AWeber is and how it actually works. By the end of this video, you should know if Aweber is right for you. Just to let you know, they are now offering a free plan. So if you want to test drive Aweber for yourself, I've also left a link in the description. If you use that link, you'll also be helping support this channel, okay? So, first of all, what is AWeber? It is an email marketing platform that's extremely easy to use. It offers a few features that other email marketing providers don't. Some of these features include a drag and drop landing page builder, which is great for collecting leads, and push notifications, which send notifications right to people's devices, getting you more exposure. What I'm going to do is jump behind the screen and show you Aweber. First, let's start here at the AWeber website. I'm going to run through the different features they have listed, just in case I miss out on any throughout this product review. Then, I'll go through the different pricing plans and the features you get from either the free plan or a premium paid plan. After that, we'll go through the actual tool itself and run some campaigns. First of all, let's come to features. We're going to scroll down this page. Interestingly, the first feature they talk about is being able to use Canva inside of the platform. It's pretty interesting that they've integrated this as the first one, considering it's an email marketing platform and not a design platform. Regardless, let's continue.

"It is very cool that you can use Canva while logged into your Aweber account now. Next, let's talk about templates. We also have different automation going on, but when you want to know what features they have, this is the section to look at. You get everything from emails, landing pages, web push notifications, forms, funnels, and much more. Basically, it's what you would expect from an email marketing platform, as well as having things like web push notifications, which is really cool! If you scroll down further, we also mention automation segmentation, tagging, drag and drop for emails, as well as the email designer and free stock imagery, which is cool. We also have reports and analytics, our newsletters, and pre-built templates. There are some other different types of templates that you can browse through if you wish, but that's basically all you need to know about the features. There are plenty of them, and if you want to see what they are, you can click on this little button, and it will show you these ones. Now, just before I log into my dashboard and show you around the back office, I'm going to quickly go through the different pricing plans. Here we have the AWeber free and Aweber pro, and it says here you can save up to 19.2% on annual plans, and you have three options here."

If you want to access premium features on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis, the cost will depend on the number of subscribers you have. For your information, the free plan allows up to 500 email subscribers and includes features such as a landing page builder, web push notifications, drag and drop builder, various email templates, sign-up forms, and e-commerce capabilities. If you upgrade to the premium plan, you can have unlimited email lists, advanced email automation, remove branding, access insights and analytics, sales tracking, split testing, and more. A full breakdown of the features is available below. Essentially, the premium plan offers less branding and more AWeber, allowing you to use card abandonment and purchase tagging, behavioral automation, and split testing. Despite this, the free membership still offers many useful features, making it an excellent tool to get started. Now, let me show you AWeber by jumping to the top of the screen. Here is my dashboard, and registering for this tool is easy and does not require a credit card. Simply click on register, choose the free or pro plan, and verify your email to get started. When you first log in, your dashboard will look like this.

There is a bit of an onboarding sequence as well, but once you've gone through all of that, this will be your dashboard. It's going to ask you to do things like import your subscribers, which will take five minutes, and welcome your new subscribers, which will actually help you set up an automated email marketing campaign. So, it's really good to get the feel of this tool. Finally, you want to create a landing page, which can take up to 10 minutes. Once you've done these three things, you'll be pretty knowledgeable about this platform. We've gone ahead and actually played with these without the onboarding sequence. So, what I'm going to do is quickly walk you through the different features, and then we'll go ahead one by one and see what they do. On the left, we've got our dashboard, which is this page. Here, we have messages, which include drafts. We've also got broadcasts, which are like newsletters. We've also got split tests, which are only available on the pro plan. Next, we have email automation campaigns, blog broadcasts, which is your feed that automatically gets sent based on the times and days that you choose, and then finally, the email template manager. For subscribers, this is just a detailed overview of your subscribers and your account. So, it's all pretty straightforward. We've also got sign-up forms that include things like WordPress or website. The signup forms we've got here are landing pages, which are like a signup form but an entire page. Then we have the list options, which include things like segment tags and automation for the people within your lists. Finally, we've got web push notifications, which are going to send notifications to your subscriber's phones, desktops, whichever they subscribed on. Finally, we have some reporting, which is going to do things like analytics and statistics.

"Then we have some integrations, and finally, help. So that's basically it. Let's get started with messages. Once you click on the Messages tab, you'll be taken to this page. Now, you have a few different options. If you click on 'Create a New Message,' you'll have a drag-and-drop email builder, a smart designer based on the URL of your website, a plaintext message, or an HTML editor. For this example, though, I'm going to use the drag-and-drop email builder because I believe most people would prefer it. So, I'm going to go ahead and click on that, and in a few moments, we'll be brought to this page. You'll notice that it's very plain once we first get started. We have some elements on the left that we can drag onto our canvas, which is pretty cool. We also have a subject line at the top that we can play around with, as well as some personalization options, such as subscribers' info like first name, middle name, and email address. If we wanted to create an email and say 'Hey' and add in the subscriber's first name, it would automatically populate that every time the email goes out with that subscriber's first name, and then we can add in whatever else we need. It all looks pretty good. Now, I personally like to have different types of templates, so I'm going to go ahead and click on 'Templates' here and see what we can find. Once this is loaded, you'll see that we have a few different templates here. What you really want to do is just look for one that resonates with you, something that you want to use as a base, and then obviously replace it with your own information once it's loaded."

So for me personally, I'm going to use something like this one here. I think it actually comes down to personal preference. I like this one here; it's just a simple blog template. I'm going to go ahead and click on apply. I actually just found a little error when it loaded. It didn't come up exactly like it does now, which is kind of strange. What I had to do was reload the page, and then the template appeared. Just something to think about if you were to do it yourself, just in case you get the error as well. So I've gone ahead and reloaded the page, and now the template has appeared. The first thing we want to do is add in the subject line. Once again, I'll rewrite what I did before. So come to the top personalized scroll subscriber info. I'm going to put in "first name here" is the latest digest from the blog. Alright, you can even put a little emoji there if you wish, a little smiley face. Now, inside here is what we just need to do right now. If you want to add an element, you can just click on what you want and drag it onto the page like so. So, for example, that's what it's going to look like. You can delete things just as easily as you drag them in, and we just want to go ahead and customize it now. Something very interesting with this tool that we went through on the website is you have the ability to use Canvas to actually create content. So first of all, let me just show you the other features so you know how it works. There's an upload button, there's also an image gallery button that allows you to use stock imagery, and then finally, we have a design on Canvas. Let's just say I wanted to create a header. All I need to do is click on the header, and it's going to go ahead and open an iframe with Canva init. So what you would do is go and create a header that you wish, as you would normally do inside of Canvas. Just for this example, I am going to use this month's special day.

"So, I'm going to click on that, let it load, and click 'save to Aweber'. Then, what it's going to do is publish it and automatically upload it to Aweber now. The first thing you might see is that nothing has happened. I found this before when I was playing with it. Simply click on the image and it will reload everything. There it is now. Obviously, this is not a Mother's Day special post, but I just wanted to let you know how Canvas works. Apart from that, all you need to do is go through and edit everything as you normally would. You can also add in personalization. Once again, the ship is shipping subscribers' info, sorry, and then you can talk about things. It's been a crazy week on the website. We've gone through so many things, like right as you would normally talk about in an email newsletter. Then, you can come through and design everything as you want once again. If you want to delete any sections, just hover over it, and you'll see there's a copy button. If you want to duplicate it, there is also a delete button if you want to get rid of it. So, I'm just going to get rid of a few things that look pretty good. If you want to add in links, just click on the buttons and put an image link and all that sort of good stuff. So, it's a very straightforward email builder, which is drag and drop. The good thing is that the landing page is exactly the same, except instead of just editing this little square, you can edit the entire page. That's all you really need to know about it. What I'm going to do is click on 'save and exit' and then let this baby publish like so. Here now is our draft email, which we can use in either broadcasts, split tests, email automation, campaigns, or anything else that we would need it for. So, what you can do, for example, is if you want to schedule it, you can click on 'schedule' here."

This is the subject it says. Do you want to share this message? It's enabled for the newsletter hub, so it's going to be sent out as a broadcast. You have it checked as Facebook, don't share. You can choose to edit that by clicking edit, same with Twitter, and it's going to ask who should receive this message. You can click on edit and change all the lists. I've actually only got one list going on here, but you can choose and exclude as you need. We've also got here when should this message be sent. You can choose a time and date based on your time zone, so simply choose the time zone that you're in and the day that you want, and you can make it go in there. So let's just say 12 a.m. on the 18th, and that is ready to roll. So I'm going to click cancel because I want it done immediately, and then finally if you're on the pro plan, you can add in some tags based on what you want to happen. But once you're happy, you can go ahead and click send a message now, and it's going to send. So I'm going to go ahead and do it. Are you sure you want to send it? You cannot undo this action. Yes, I'm going to click send now, and it is going to save the settings and send a campaign. Now, just so you know, I've actually put one subscriber in here, and it is for my testing email address. So no one is going to be sent this email as it's not very relevant to anything, but just to show you how it works. So that is now sending. It isn't going to take long, less than usually 20 seconds, and everything is going to be done. But if we come down a little bit further, if you click on split tests, it's not going to let you in. It'll take you to a pricing plan like so, as I'm on the free plan for this tutorial.

So, I may do a Pro version later, but for that, we'll just leave it as is. Next, we've got campaigns. Now, if you went through the onboarding sequence at the beginning, it's going to allow you to create this first campaign, which I'll show you what it looks like. Basically, it's quick automation, which means that every time someone subscribes, it's going to trigger them based on new subscribers and send them a message. First of all, it will apply a tag which is the welcome campaign. It will always send them a message thanking them for signing up and then apply the tag "welcomed" and remove the tag "Welcome campaign". It's just teaching you how automation works. So, what I'm going to do is come back and see what other automations we can have. So, first of all, we've got a welcome series, a lead magnet, a blogger series, and a mini-course. Mini-courses are great as lead magnets as you're giving a lot of information and it's encouraging people to open up your emails every day. So, if you have enough content to create a mini-course, I highly recommend it. Otherwise, a lead magnet is definitely enough. Then, you've also got your blogger series, which is great if you're a content creator. So, I'm going to click on them, just because most people use it. I'll just leave the template as a lead magnet and click on Create. This is going to take a few moments to load. Oh, it's actually been done, so it didn't take a few moments at all. So, I'm going to go ahead and click on the lead magnet. As you can see on here, every time a new subscriber subscribes to our campaign, it's going to trigger it and send out an email message which says "Your freebie is inside".

If you want to add anything else in here, for example, a weight, you simply drop it in where you want it to go. It's pretty annoying when these pop-up things come up, but I think they're quite necessary when you first start. What I usually do is make people wait about two minutes, and it's not long. In fact, you could even make it five. But during this time, once people sign up to your form, you can redirect them to a video where you're telling them about something else. If you are trying to sell something, this is a great message. Then you can also apply a tag, and this tag can be added inside of here. It could just be something like "lead magnet," and you can describe it. You can also remove any other tags. So let's just say "welcomed subscriber." The other one was "so now." It means once they get into lead magnet, they're now in the lead magnet pool and they're removed from the welcomed tag. That's all pretty good. So I'm going to go here, click on save and exit, and that is another automation campaign created now. What you want to do is click on activate campaign before you leave this page, or else it's not going to work. Now everything is good to go. That's basically how messages work. It's very simple. Everything is just the same. The blog broadcast is slightly different, but not much. All you need to do is click on Create a blog broadcast, and add in your RSS feed. In my example, if you are a WordPress user, that is just legitmarketingreviews. com/feed. It's just your website/feed, and it's going to take all the information from your blog. You can go ahead and load templates and everything like that. I personally don't use RSS feed blog broadcasts because I like to make sure I see what goes out before it's automated. However, if that is you, you can easily do this using this method.

So, once again, you can personalize the subject based on names, emails, and everything like that, and then you can put in a simple message. So let's get stuck into the next section, which is subscribers. I'm going to go ahead and click on subscribers. Now, this is just going to list everyone on your list. Once again, this is just the test email that I use to check different software. So that's all there. If you click on them as well, it's also going to show you a little bit about these people. For example, there was my IP when I tried it using my VPN, saying I was in Auckland, and it also gave me a time and a sign-up form. So it's all pretty active now. Something cool about it as well is that if you want to keep your email list clean, you can come to dormant subscribers, and it's going to list everyone that sort of doesn't engage with your emails, and you can get rid of them because it's going to help email deliverability. If you're sending emails to people that don't open them, it's going to affect where they end up, and most of the time, it's going to end up in junk. So this is a good way. There are a few different options that you can choose, so you can play around with that if you need to as well. Now, if we continue more down the page, let's go to sign-up forms and let's go to landing pages. So first of all, sign-up forms. This is mainly aimed at websites, so depending on what platform you're using, you can even have a tab on your Facebook page. Simply choose the one that you want to use, and it's going to give you step-by-step instructions of how everything works. So, for example, I know a lot of people use WordPress, and this is a nice step-by-step guide on how it actually works. And if you install this plugin as well.

You can also use the push notification feature on your website, which is pretty cool. So, you can go ahead and check that out yourself. Once you've integrated it as you need to, what you can do is come to the top and click on "create a signup form". It's also going to offer you the option to use a landing page, which is also down there. You can create it for your website, like so. I'm going to click "create for a website". Then, it's going to offer you a few options. We've got all of this inside of here. This is mainly for a sidebar, for things like blogs, just so it's easy to use them and embed them as quickly as possible. So, that's all you really need to know. What I'm going to do is just show you the one that I've already edited because it's going to save a bit of time instead of publishing it. Once everything's done, just come over to "publish". So, I just created this quick one here. It's nice and easy. I'm going to go to "publish". Then, you've got a couple of options. I'll show you the settings as well. Actually, while I'm here, we've just got a form name, a basic thank you page. So, if you want to redirect to a different URL, you can do that. That's usually where I would put in a video and build some rapport with these people or try to sell them something if need be. We've also got some advanced settings if you want to do things like ad tracking, but you don't really need to worry about this one too much unless you want to redirect them. Finally, publish and we have here two options. I will install my form or you want to convert it into a landing page. If I click on "I will install my form", we've got a JavaScript code. We've got raw HTML, so both options are really quick. Just copy and paste them onto your website with the HTML block, and you're pretty much good to go. So, that is the signup form. Now, we'll talk about landing pages really quickly. I don't want this video to be too long.

"I've already created a few different landing pages. I'll quickly show you the templates, so there are a few different options on the left that you can go through. If I scroll down, there are also quite a few different options, maybe about 30, that you can get inside of this platform. You can also create your own templates as well. If you wish, these are, to be honest, a little bit plain, but to be quite frank, you want plain landing pages as you just want them to focus on one particular thing, which is putting in the email and getting something back from it. So I've been playing around with this one here, which is quite interesting. I can click on choose and it's just a little card. Basically, I'm giving them a little bit of information about you as well as an opt-in, here so. All you need to do is come through once again. You can change the imagery easily enough, so I'll just double-click that one in there. It's a bit big, so for the sizing, I will just make it a thumbnail, and make it nice and small. Everything inside of here is just as you wish, so just digital marketer, right, Phil Wilson, right? So it's really easy to change these things. You've also got the ability to add in links wherever you want and then finally if you click on the form down the bottom, you can also add in any custom fields that you want to add. For example, phone numbers or country things like that. And if you haven't created any, you can go to manage your custom fields and it's going to walk you through everything like that. We also have in the submission tab the option to redirect people. So if you want to redirect people to custom URLs afterward, you can do so inside of here. Just put in the URL you wish to take people to, and this includes things like creating a sales page, a bridge, a video, and an upsell. Anything like that, this is a great time to actually add this in now. If we come down a little bit further, we also have here powered by Aweber."

"Now, this can't actually be deleted on the free plan. This is the branding that they're going to add to every single email. If you want to get rid of them, once again, it is a pro feature. Obviously, they need some kickback to keep their software going, so having a little bit of branding here is going to help them out. Now, if we come back down to sorry up here, to the page, we have a few more settings that we haven't gone through yet, so I'm going to go ahead and click on that. Now, this is going to be our preview URL. We also have here WordPress users can use their own domain with our WordPress integration. For example, if I installed the WordPress plugin, it's going to be whatever I want it to be, so it could be legitmarketingreviews. com/landing page if I wanted to have it there. You can also connect in a custom domain if you wish, and you can also customize your Aweber domain as well. At the moment, this looks pretty good, so I'm not too worried. We finally have a few extra things. We have here page copying, so if you want to allow other people to copy this page into their account, you can do so, and it's going to allow you to get a link on your back-end dashboard. We've also got social sharing, so if you wanted to share this page with other people, you could add in some different things. For example, on social media, so on Facebook, if you put in a title, a description, and a photo, it's going to look exactly like that when you share it. And then finally, some tracking, your Google Analytics and Facebook Pixel ID. So that's all good. So what I'm going to do is click on save and exit, and there it is, the first one at the top. Now, I forgot to actually change the page titles, but they are here regardless, and it is all good. So what I'm going to do is click on publish, and this one is now live."

If you want to see it, just click on the URL. Like so, open up a new page and paste it in. This is our final copy, everything works, and everything looks good. So, that is as easy as it is. We also have some social share buttons if you want to share them as well. Now, coming down our list of features, we'll continue. We've got list options, so we've got list settings. So, I'll go ahead and click on that to show you what it looks like. I've replaced the default name with "LMR subscribers," and we've also got a description. You've also got your "from" field and your "from" address, and we've got your contact address as well. You need to have this for CAN-SPAM anti-spam laws, but you need to have that or else it's not going to send. Then, we've also got some notifications if you want to get it. That's good! If we come to tags, this is where you can create your different tags for the different people inside of your lists. So, I've got "website subscriber," and you can see all the subscribers within that list. Now, for custom fields, once again, if you want to add in things like phone numbers, countries, business names, or anything like that, you can add them in, and they're going to be available in your forms once you build them. Just to let you know, and finally, if you want list automation, it is a pro feature, so it is going to ask you to upgrade to pro. So, I can't, unfortunately, show you that on this one, but coming down, we next have web push notifications, which is a very exciting one because you can use this to its full potential inside of your free plan. So, if I was to click on say, "new push message," all I need to do is say, "Hey, I have a huge giveaway going on right now." You can just type a little bit in inside of here, so I'm giving away a MacBook Pro, Apple, and an iWatch 20.

I don't know, I'm just making something up, but you can change the link here. For example, I could say "giveaway" and then add an image. So let's just say I'm going to put an image of myself. Obviously, I'm just showing you what it can look like. This is how it will look on people's phones. Now, I don't know if you've seen a notification come through at the top right of your screen before, or just any notification on your phone. It will appear almost instantly, and the good thing about this is that people will get it directly on their phone, not just an email that they can push aside and delete. This will say "hey" and potentially even make a bell ring, so they'll be like, "Wow, there's something right here in front of me," and not be distracted by everything else around them. So this is a really cool thing. People pay money to get this service by itself, so having this built into a free plan is extremely amazing. Now, once again, you just click on "send push notification," and then it's good to go. Next, we have reports and tracking. If I click on "reports," you'll see there is a nice little basic overview of how everything is done. Now, I haven't been using this long enough to get any subscribers on it. This is actually a demo account, but once you've used it for a little bit, you'll see how many broadcasts you've sent, all the campaigns, the uniqueness, the unique amount of people that have opened it, as well as the total opens. You've also got classic reports if you wish. We've also got tracking here, but once again, it's a pro feature, so I can't show you how it works. Finally, we have integrations. It integrates with a lot of different platforms, so I'll let this load for just a second. Here we are. If I click on "available integrations," you'll notice they integrate with ClickFunnels, WordPress, Facebook, PayPal, Zapier, GrooveApps, and a bunch more, I think.

There are up to 50, so no matter what you're looking for, just type it in. Let's just say "Thrive". For example, you can see we can go and quickly integrate with these platforms. That's basically Aweber, guys. It is a bit of a long video. I just wanted to show you everything about it. So what I'm going to do is jump behind the screen and give you my final overview and opinion about it. Okay, so that was Aweber. Now, this was a slightly longer video, but I did want to go through all of the different features as well as a little demo and how you can actually use them. Hopefully, this has been helpful. Overall, it is a very simple tool. It is very easy to get started and set up, and this is perfect for someone who is new to email marketing or wants an email marketing platform with push notifications. Overall, I think this is a great tool. It is, once again, free to get started, and if you were thinking about it, I've also left that link in the description if you want to help support the channel. But apart from that, that was my Aweber review. I hope you enjoyed it. If you did, make sure you smash that thumbs up button, and if you haven't yet, hit subscribe. Loads of good reviews coming in the near future. That's it from me. I'll see you in the next video.
