The term exotic pets is a broad term that essentially means anything that isn't a cat or a dog. Lizards, birds, turtles and snakes fall into this category but so do monkeys, tigers and alligators. The decision to get an exotic pet needs to be one that is based on the reality of your ability to care properly for the animal. If you are dedicated to providing the right environment, food and medical care that the animal needs then you are a most likely a good candidate for an exotic pet. If you are buying an exotic pet to be cool or if you are buying one on a whim then you need to take a step back for and really think about the purchase and make sure it is right for you and for the animal.
